Greetings Readers, my name is Josh!
Like most bloggers, I had questioned where I should begin my introduction being the newest member to UMMP as the Social Media & Marketing intern. Over a week’s time, I was constantly lost in each ‘beginning’ that lead up to the point of where and how I got to where I am today. Still not knowing exactly where to start, it became clear; its not about the beginning, its about the end or future, right? Unexpected Moments of Magic Panama uses “Be the Change” and “We are the Change” as their catch phase and purpose. I love this because change, by definition means to make the form, nature, content or future course of something different from what it is, from what it would be if left alone.
“I agreed to partner with UMMP because I am the change, too, and I want to see the future of volunteerism grow inside of every individual as it has in me; ultimately changing the future.”
I’m not using a future reference to cop-out of giving you a little background about myself, which will come in time, instead I will maintain my focus on updating this blog with current updates and where our program is heading in addition to explaining how I am the change through volunteering. Currently living in the foothills of Colorado, I am able to keep in touch with Kaytee and the volunteers through each media site we oversee. UMMP is a way for me to keep in touch with my passion for volunteering internationally, from a distance. I can’t wait for the day I anxiously arrive at the Starfish Volunteer House to continue my active service. My goal is to constantly update and advocate for UMMP and the change they are making not only in the lives of less fortunate communities of Panama, but equally in the lives of each and every volunteer.
